NAIDOC Day

A NAIDOC Com­mu­nity Day will be held at Ma­reeba’s Arnold Park on Tues­day next week. The Ma­reeba PCYC event, which runs from 10am un­til 2pm, in­cludes in­dige­nous danc­ing, free health checks, ca­reers ed­u­ca­tion, art and craft work­shops, and a sausage siz­zle. Vet­eran’s jour­ney

VIET­NAM vet­eran Rob Eade trav­elled to Cairns yes­ter­day as part of his na­tion­wide ef­fort to place an Aus­tralian flag on war memorials. The for­mer Aus­tralian De­fence Force ser­vice­man is trav­el­ling to each memo­rial with his dog Ginge. He will con­tinue his jour­ney to Moss­man dur­ing the week­end fol­lowed by a trip to Yungaburra on Mon­day.

Vol­un­teers needed

VOL­UN­TEERS are be­ing sought for World Cas­sowary Day 2017. A free fam­ily event, fea­tur­ing chil­dren’s ac­tiv­i­ties and live en­ter­tain­ment, will be held at Fog­a­rty Park from 9am-3pm on Sun­day, Septem­ber 24. To vol­un­teer visit world­cas­sowary­day.com.au.

Mo­tor­bike crash

A TABLE­LANDS man has been taken to Cairns Hos­pi­tal af­ter crash­ing his mo­tor­bike near Mun­galli. The ac­ci­dent hap­pened about 5pm on Palmer­ston Hwy. The 55-year-old suf­fered non-life threat­en­ing in­juries and was taken to Cairns Hos­pi­tal last night.
