IS claims triple blast

THREE sui­cide at­tacks claimed by Is­lamic State have killed at least 50 peo­ple in south­ern Iraq and wounded more than 80, a health of­fi­cial and po­lice sources say.

Wear­ing se­cu­rity force uni­forms and driv­ing stolen army ve­hi­cles, the at­tack­ers blew up a po­lice check­point and two restau­rants on a high­way near the city of Nasiriyah, us­ing car bombs and sui­cide vests, the sources said. IS claimed re­spon­si­bil­ity. IS ac­tiv­ity is usu­ally con­cen­trated in west­ern and north­ern Iraq.
