Holiday at home for Easter in paradise

-

SIAN JEFFRIES EASTER weekend accommodation is filling up fast across the region, but there are still vacancies for locals who want to holiday at home.

Luxury resort Thala Beach Nature Reserve 15km south of Port Douglas still has limited availability over Easter, offering a locals’ special rate of $249 (net) per night in a deluxe Jungle Walk Bungalow, including breakfast for two, a saving of about $169.

Vicki Wiltshire at Mission Beach Holidays said she had three “exclusive properties” priced at more than $600 a night available for Easter.

She said taking a break locally was an easy way to relax.

“It’s cheaper and it’s beautiful here ... within a couple of hours you can be relaxing and unwind,” she said.

For budget-conscious holidaymakers, there are still a handful of camping spots available for the long weekend at Tinaroo’s Curri Curri bush camping site, although the popular Fong-On Bay and Kauri Creek camping areas are booked out.
