DOING IT ALL BY THE BOOK

-

CAIRNS book lovers will have the chance to find their favourite novels for free. The Mt Sheridan Plaza Book Exchange, from Monday March 26, is a joint community initiative between Mission Australia and Communities for Children. The exchange provides readers an opportunity to swap books at no cost. It will be run on an honesty policy - if you take a book, you are asked to replace it with another book. Love it, read it, return it. Mt Sheridan Plaza marketing manager Kay Judd said the idea was for people to share books they may no longer want or love and no longer need. “You bring a book that means something to you, that you would like to share with others. Then you take a book away that somebody

else has brought,” Mrs Judd said. “It’s a give-one-take-one scenario.” Hundreds of books have already been donated. “We hope that the joy of literature and reading will be made more convenient with this new community initiative,” Centre manager Angela Liversage said. Readers can embrace the take, swap, donate by dropping books directly to the stand or at Mt Sheridan Plaza Centre Management Office between 9am-5pm weekdays. The book exchange is open Monday and Wednesday 10am-2pm and Saturdays from 9am-1pm, located next to the Justice of the Peace service.
