Ararat Musical Comedy Society’s 2017 production of ‘Pirates’ is about to set sail.

A modern take on Gilbert and Sullivan’s ‘Pirates of Penzance’, the show will be directed by Grant Johnson with musical direction by Wally Pope.

An information night will be on January 31 for anyone interested in being part of the show, either on stage or behind the scenes.

The information night will be at 7.30pm in Ararat 800 Primary School’s multi-purpose room off Moore Street. Auditions will be on February 2 and 4, with audition times to be booked at the information night, or by phoning Rennie Hannan on 0438 282 008.

Mr Johnson said Pirates of Penzance was one of Gilbert and Sullivan’s most well known and loved shows, but participants in the Ararat production could expect surprises.

“There will be a few plot twists and additions to the show to ensure it’s a fresh take on Pirates of Penzance,” Mr Johnson said.

“There will be something for everyone in this production, whether you are a die-hard Gilbert and Sullivan fan, or someone experiencing musical theatre for the first time.”
