Off-road racing in Rainbow

The Weekly Advertiser Horsham - - News -

Elite off-road enduro racing is heading to the region with Australian Off Road Championship leaders confirming a Rainbow Desert Enduro will be part of the 2017 championship season.

The enduro is set to roar to life from the southern Mallee township from August 4 to 6, with off-road enthusiasts already working with the Rainbow community to prepare a course.

Brett Price from the Victorian Off Road Racing Association said the event would be fantastic for the region.

“This event will not only add to Rainbow’s existing sporting and recreational offerings, but also increase awareness of tourism opportunities and features in the region,” he said.

“We’ve just had a working bee with club members and the local community pitching in to help prepare the course.”

Mr Price said competition vehicles would be in Rainbow’s Federal Street on the Friday of the event for scrutiny, representing an opportunity for the community to ‘get up close and personal’ with the cars and the crews. He added the event would then be followed by a prologue on Saturday and racing Sunday.

Racing in the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport event involves an 80-kilometre track in Rainbow district.

The enduro will represent the national championship season finale as well as a round of the CAMS Victorian Off Road Championship.
