Final four in sight

David O Jones Mitre 10 finished at full steam on a balmy evening as it defeated Stawell Toyota by nine games and claimed third spot on the ladder in Stawell Friday night tennis.

Stawell Toyota led by a game after the main doubles matches and then added to the lead by winning the first of the mixed doubles sets 8-3.

It was then that Mitre 10 decided enough was enough and won the remaining three sets 8-3, 8-4 and 8-2 to take home the premiership points.

In the night’s second match, results went as expected with Frewstal defeating Crowe Horwath by 18 games.

Frewstal had an 18-game margin after the main doubles and this proved to be the difference as the mixed doubles sets went two sets apiece.

A games total was also even so the 18-game margin became the final result.

This week features a top-of-the-table clash between Frewstal and Farrers Tyrepower with both looking for bragging rights in the lead-up to finals.

Crowe Horwath is up against David O Jones Mitre 10, and need to win sets if they are to remain in contention for a final-four position.
