Nar­row miss for jack­pot

Young Se­bastopol shooter Travis Gull missed tak­ing home a $1000 jack­pot by one point at Ararat Clay Tar­get Club’s Septem­ber shoot.

In a twist to the end of com­pe­ti­tion, one of his fel­low shoot­ers went out after shoot­ing had fin­ished to find the tar­get he missed and gave it to him dur­ing pre­sen­ta­tions.

The event at­tracted 29 com­peti­tors who were pre­sented with 85 tar­gets. Three shoot­ers started the day off well, Gull, Leon Gib­son and Norm Watts scor­ing 3030 in an eye-opener. The sec­ond event was a 75-tar­get cham­pion of cham­pi­ons grade cham­pi­onship with Gull win­ning over­all and AA Grade with 124-125. Sec­ond was John Soufis on 122-125.

A Grade went to Wayne Cal­aby on 121-125 from Gavin Hor­ri­gan. B Grade went to Wil­liam Joiner on 107-125 from Troy Pil­more 105-125 and C Grade to Leighton Hate­ley 106-125.

Over­all high gun, Travis Gull 154-55; vet­eran high gun, Wayne Cal­aby 148-155; women’s high gun, Tanya Perry 122-155; ju­nior high gun, Jack Holdsworth 139-155.
