Music support for cancer group
Proceeds from the next Horsham Country Music show at Horsham RSL will go to Wimmera Prostate Cancer Support Group.
Performances from Melbourne country music artist Marcia Rae, with backing from Leo Tellefson from Donald, will be at a dinner and show on October 19 and Friday morning melodies event on October 20.
Horsham Country Music Association spokesman Lyall Wheaton said a decision to donate proceeds from monthly shows to a charitable group was a first for the association.
“The Wimmera Prostate Cancer Support Group formed last year and they are keen to promote the support they provide to men who have prostate cancer,” he said.
“Last year Horsham Coun- try Music ran the first show in the then new Horsham Town Hall, featuring Kiara Rodrigues, which raised $17,500 for Wimmera Cancer Centre.”
Mr Wheaton said Marcia Rae would be making her Horsham Country Music debut.
“She has been performing in Melbourne and at festivals throughout Victoria for many years,” he said.
“Her performance will include a Patsy Clyne Tribute as well as songs made famous by Loretta Lynn, Connie Francis, Dusty Springfield and more.”
Tickets for both shows are on sale at the Horsham RSL. The Thursday night dinner and show, starting at 6.30pm, costs $33 and the morning melodies performance, 10am, costs $14.
