Mu­sic sup­port for can­cer group

Pro­ceeds from the next Hor­sham Coun­try Mu­sic show at Hor­sham RSL will go to Wim­mera Prostate Can­cer Sup­port Group.

Per­for­mances from Mel­bourne coun­try mu­sic artist Mar­cia Rae, with back­ing from Leo Tellef­son from Don­ald, will be at a din­ner and show on Oc­to­ber 19 and Fri­day morn­ing melodies event on Oc­to­ber 20.

Hor­sham Coun­try Mu­sic As­so­ci­a­tion spokesman Lyall Wheaton said a de­ci­sion to do­nate pro­ceeds from monthly shows to a char­i­ta­ble group was a first for the as­so­ci­a­tion.

“The Wim­mera Prostate Can­cer Sup­port Group formed last year and they are keen to pro­mote the sup­port they pro­vide to men who have prostate can­cer,” he said.

“Last year Hor­sham Coun- try Mu­sic ran the first show in the then new Hor­sham Town Hall, fea­tur­ing Kiara Rodrigues, which raised $17,500 for Wim­mera Can­cer Cen­tre.”

Mr Wheaton said Mar­cia Rae would be mak­ing her Hor­sham Coun­try Mu­sic de­but.

“She has been per­form­ing in Mel­bourne and at fes­ti­vals through­out Vic­to­ria for many years,” he said.

“Her per­for­mance will in­clude a Patsy Clyne Trib­ute as well as songs made fa­mous by Loretta Lynn, Con­nie Fran­cis, Dusty Spring­field and more.”

Tick­ets for both shows are on sale at the Hor­sham RSL. The Thurs­day night din­ner and show, start­ing at 6.30pm, costs $33 and the morn­ing melodies per­for­mance, 10am, costs $14.
