Whopper wins family day
David Isaacson landed a whopper 1.363-kilogram redfin to win the open section of Horsham Angling Club’s Delaney Family Day competition at Toolondo Reservoir.
Redfin dominated the prize list as participants reported high-quality fishing throughout the event.
Bruce Thomson won a senior section with a 0.794kg redfin from Adam Hinch, 0.773, Trevor Muller, 0.756 and Larelle Souter 0.729. Junior anglers caught some of the best redfin on the day with Rusty Vanstan landing a 1.149kg fish to win from Fletcher Wilson, 1.010, Koby Lang, 0.923 and Zephr Vanstan, 0.762.
The event featured 23 adults and six juniors who caught many of their fish on lures and plastic baits.
A Gone Fishing Sunday promotional event will be at Horsham Police Paddock this Sunday and the Horsham club will run a fishing competition from 9am until 1pm, as well as a free barbecue to coincide with the event.
On Saturday, from 10am until noon, the club will provide an opportunity for anglers to paint their own lures to use in the competition.
Club members are also reporting good fishing at Taylors Lake and are waiting for Lake Wartook to start producing good catches.
