‘Pink’ ride

Wim­mera mo­tor­cy­cling en­thu­si­asts will join a western Vic­to­rian at­tempt on Sun­day to raise more than $15,000 for women and their fam­i­lies af­fected by breast can­cer.

Wim­mera riders are join­ing a 2017 Pink Rib­bon Ride to Bal­larat and invit­ing peo­ple to join the event.

The Wim­mera ride, start­ing in Hor­sham, is one of seven rides across Vic­to­ria that ends at Bal­larat’s Lake Wen­douree.

Wim­mera lead mo­tor­cy­clist Steve Arnott said the ride would leave Wim­mera Mo­tor­cyle Co about 9am and hopes to re­cruit riders from Stawell and Ararat along the way, with a stop at Ararat’s Cal­tex Food­ery about 10.30am.

“We cer­tainly wel­come any­one in­ter­ested in join­ing in. When we get to Bal­larat there will be live mu­sic, food and raf­fles. It’s go­ing to be a great day,” he said.

Wim­mera Breast­care nurse Wendy Crafter said the ride would raise money and aware­ness for Breast Can­cer Net­work Aus­tralia.

“Please get be­hind this great cause,” she said. Riders in the event will pay $20 and pil­lions $10.
