Fords, Holdens at Balmoral

A seventh annual Lions Club of Balmoral District Show ‘n’ Shine with a market next month will feature a ‘Ford and Holden Supercars’ theme.

Event spokesman David Appleton said the theme was based on the last year of Australian production-made Ford and Holden cars and he encouraged people with historic examples of makes and models to bring them to the event.

“If it’s got wheels and you’re proud of it, bring it along,” he said.

Mr Appleton said the event would continue to feature other types of historic vehicles, from motorcycles and early examples of automobiles to hot- rods and modified cars. The November 5 event at Balmoral Recreation Reserve will start at 10am and run until 3pm.

The show ‘n’ shine will also include an extensive market and a progressive raffle with about 20 prizes supplied by Horsham and Hamilton businesses up for grabs.

The event has attracted about 300 patrons and 100 cars for the past two years, some travelling from across western Victoria and beyond, and organisers are keen to increase the numbers.

“It’s all about raising money for redistribution back into the community while also having a great family day out and a lot of fun,” Mr Appleton said.
