Young dancers as­sessed

Hor­sham School of Dance bal­let stu­dents have per­formed strongly dur­ing Aus­tralian Teach­ers of Danc­ing ex­ams.

Vis­it­ing ex­am­iner Ch­eryl Witchell said all stu­dents were well pre­pared and a plea­sure to ex­am­ine.

The ex­am­i­na­tion pro­vided an op­por­tu­nity to in­tro­duce stu­dents to the ex­am­i­na­tion pro­ce­dure ‘in a re­laxed and fa­mil­iar en­vi­ron­ment’.

All the stu­dents re­ceived a medal and a writ­ten report with pos­i­tive and tech­ni­cal com­ments to help with on­go­ing train­ing.

Thirty-three stu­dents from begin­ner through to se­nior level took part. All test one, two and three stu­dents passed suc­cess­fully.

In higher lev­els, four stu­dents achieved hon­ours plus and another four stu­dents achieved highly com­mended plus.

Prin­ci­pal Karen Booker said chil­dren who took part in ex­ams gained con­fi­dence and learned im­por­tant life skills and it gave them goal to work to­wards.

Ul­ti­mately, the higher lev­els can lead to ex­am­i­na­tions for teach­ing diplo­mas.
