Sheep­dog mile­stone at Moys­ton

Skills, in­tel­li­gence and re­la­tion­ships be­tween per­son and an­i­mal were un­der the spot­light at Moys­ton’s an­nual sheep­dog tri­als.

The his­toric tri­als, on a Moys­ton events cal­en­dar for the past 90 years, at­tracted record at­ten­dances as well as many life mem­bers keen to cel­e­brate the 90-year mile­stone.

Dogs and their owner-train­ers came from across Vic­to­ria and in­ter­state, with An­drew Ire­land from Port Broughton and his work­ing dog Oak­downs Byn win­ning the event’s open-trial cat­e­gory.

Mem­ber for Lowan Emma Kealy at­tended the event to present prizes, re-en­act­ing an his­toric tra­di­tion in­volv­ing dis­trict po­lit­i­cal rep­re­sen­ta­tives.

Ms Kealy and the old­est mem­ber of the dis­trict’s Burke fam­ily, Shirley Davis, also cut a cake to cel­e­brate the oc­ca­sion.
