Safety award for Horsham officer
Horsham Police officer Leading Senior Constable Julieanne Barrett has won official recognition for ‘exceptional’ commitment for her role in Victoria Police.
Leading Sen Con Barrett received a special commendation at Chief Commissioner’s Safety Awards in Melbourne.
The award was for her work with a Victoria Police Peer Support Program and members of Victoria Police in the Wimmera.
Peer Support Officers are volunteers who take on roles in addition to standard policing duties.
The role of a peer support officer is to offer initial support and help to colleagues regarding work, family and personal issues, assess the need for critical incident stress defusing or debriefing, make referrals to appropriate health and support services, and, if necessary, provide follow-up support for colleagues.
