New cap­tains at Mar­ian

Ararat Mar­ian Col­lege stu­dents Ned Par­sons and Alanna Mcfar­lane have se­cured col­lege cap­tain roles for 2019.

Ned started year seven at Mar­ian Col­lege in 2014, com­ing from St Mary’s Pri­mary School.

He said his goal as a cap­tain was to make ev­ery­one feel wel­come.

“2019 is the year of hos­pi­tal­ity and I wish that, not only me, but ev­ery­one wel­comes all,” he said.

“Mar­ian Col­lege is well known to ac­cept all, es­pe­cially the most vul­ner­a­ble, which is amaz­ing and it is the di­rec­tion I want to head to­wards for the up­com­ing year.”

Alanna also started year seven at the col­lege in 2014 af­ter spend­ing her pri­mary school years at Ararat West.

Alanna’s goals for her time as school cap­tain in­clude en­cour­ag­ing stu­dents to be­come more in­volved with the aca­demic side of school and to ac­cept more op­por­tu­ni­ties that Mar­ian Col­lege presents them with.

“I would also like to spread more aware­ness about men­tal health in the school com­mu­nity,” she said.

NEW LEAD­ERS: Alanna Mcfar­lane and Ned Par­sons have been ap­pointed school cap­tains of Ararat’s Mar­ian Col­lege for 2019.
