Zoom­ing in on Pi­casso

Madrid’s Queen Sofia Mu­seum has launched an on­line ope­nac­cess li­brary of more than 2000 doc­u­ments re­lat­ing to Pablo Pi­casso’s renowned anti-war paint­ing Guer­nica (left).

The site “Re­think­ing Guer­nica” gives ac­cess to texts, manuscripts, let­ters, doc­u­ments, cat­a­logues, posters, audio and video record­ings and other in­for­ma­tion on the paint­ing.

It also al­lows users to zoom in and ex­am­ine the paint­ing in minute de­tail.

The 27sqm Guer­nica was cre­ated af­ter the Ger­mans at­tacked the epony­mous Basque town on April 26, 1937, dur­ing the Span­ish Civil War.
