When it comes to obfuscating, there’s few better than the banks and airlines.

So after a stiff shot of scotch, the Bull reluctantly “reached out” to Etihad’s media department to inquire whether it was true that the carrier had closed its only Perth office.

The reply was quick. “As part of our global review we have implemented a more flexible working environment which negates the need for a fixed office presence in a number of locations, including Perth,” it said.

Given “more flexible working conditions” often means someone is out of a job, we asked for specific information.

“It means we’re simply closing the physical office but no jobs will be cut as a result,” came the reply.
