Build­ing cracks

Con­struc­tion and hospi­tal­ity work­ers were un­harmed when part of a build­ing col­lapsed in Fre­man­tle yes­ter­day.

A Ban­nis­ter Street build­ing be­ing ren­o­vated had three struc­tural col­lapses yes­ter­day morn­ing. Nearby work­ers said at least two peo­ple ran from the her­itage-listed build­ing af­ter a loud crack about 9.30am. There were two more col­lapses at 10.30am and 10.40am. It is un­der­stood the floor and a wall was dam­aged.

Phillip Arnold owns Sta­ble Hands restau­rant next door. He said his busi­ness had cracks in a wall and would be closed until deemed safe. Claire Tyrrell
