The West Australian - - INSIDE COVER -

Last week IC reported a brazen car theft had been caught on camera, with a pair of crooks stealing a white 1968 Chevy Impala from the driveway of its owner’s Crimea Street residence in Morley.

The Impala owner wasn’t home at the time but a neighbour noticed the classic car being hoisted on to a trailer behind a white Ford Territory, and snapped a pic, which was then shared in the Perth Classic Car Spotto Facebook group.

However, the crooks weren’t total misanthropes — they put witches hats in front of their vehicle during the theft to warn oncoming cars of the obstacle.

We’re not sure that small gesture will count for much in a court of law, which is where whoever stole the Impala may end up, after police found the Impala last week.

It was found in a shed in Mirrabooka, where the thieves had been attempting to change the car’s colour using cans of black spray paint.

To do that to a classic car is a crime in itself, if you ask us.
