Eagles flying high in HK

The West Australian - - NEWS -

Two weeks on from their AFL grand final win over Collingwood, West Coast’s premiership celebrations have moved to Hong Kong.

And by the looks of this picture posted on Instagram by Nic Naitanui they’re still having as much fun as on grand final night.

About 30 Eagles players and officials dressed in Oktoberfest lederhosen as they joined locals and tourists at Happy Valley racecourse, where thousands turn out each Wednesday night.

Mark Hutchings brought an Eagles touch to the players’ outfits, in blue and gold socks.

Also on the end-of-season trip are departing ruckman Scott Lycett, who has joined Port Adelaide during the AFL trade period, and retiring defender Eric Mackenzie.

The cracked ribs Jeremy McGovern sustained in the grand final, which came after requiring six painkilling injections to take the field, were not enough to keep him at home, and Jack Redden recovered from a bout of gastro to join the trip.

Liam Ryan is one premiership star not in Hong Kong, instead joining his partner and baby daughter to spend time at home in the Murchison.
