Insult v argument

The West Australian - - AGENDA -

The cabal of conservatives responding to Gemma Tognini’s provocative piece about the so-called “war on men” (Opinion, 10/10) seem to have combed their right-wing thesaurus for suitably insulting terms for the women supposedly waging this war.

Terms such as “rabid feminists”, “sanctimonious sisterhood”, “hypersensitive females”, “fanatic feminism” (all from Daryl Binning) were deployed.

Of course the old saw ‘loony Left’ got an airing, as it does when anyone challenges the Right. What a pity they can’t mount a reasoned argument without resorting to insult.
