Time to tackle skills at clinic
RUGBY UNION: Are you looking for a fun, friendly, healthy experience for your kids during the September holidays? Look no further, the Rookies2Reds program has your future footy stars sorted.
The Queensland Reds have invited kids aged 5–12 years to begin their journey and come along to the Roma Echidnas Rookies2Reds holiday clinic next week.
The program will run on Tuesday, September 19, from 9am–noon.
The clinic will include passing, kicking, catching and tackling skills.
The clinic will be broken up into three age groups:
Little Legends (5–7 years), Junior Champs (8–9 years) and Future Stars (10–12 years).
The Reds are due back in Roma in Term 4 to make high school visits to Roma State College, St John’s School, Miles State High and
Queensland Rugby Union spokesman Daniel Birrell said the Rugby sevens school clinics would be run with modified games.
“We’re looking to grow the junior and grassroots rugby union throughout the region,” he said.
“Especially considering Emilee Cherry’s recent success as a Roma girl, playing on the international stage.
“The school clinics will involve passing, catching, kicking, tackling and spatial awareness.”
