Local face for Dalby bank

Darling Downs banker chosen to head team

The Western Star - - RURAL WEEKLY -

ALLORA local and experienced agribusiness banker Troy Frizzell has been selected by agribusiness banking specialist Rabobank to head up its Dalby branch.

Announcing the appointment, Rabobank regional manager for southern Queensland Brad James said Mr Frizzell – who has notched up more than two decades in the financial sector – had established himself firmly in the local district.

“Troy brings a significant breadth and depth of knowledge to the role, working in agribusiness finance for the majority of his 22-year banking career, with most of his roles based in southern Queensland,” Mr James said.

“Growing up on the Darling Downs at Allora and living in Dalby for the past two years with his young family, Troy has a good lay of the land and is well equipped to head up the branch, which services such a significant agricultural region.”

Mr Frizzell’s appointment also demonstrates Rabobank’s strong commitment to the region, Mr James said, with the bank actively recruiting agribusiness professionals to service its growing client base.

“The bank has a strong presence on the Darling Downs, which produces around a quarter of the state’s agricultural output, with the Dalby branch covering the western Darling Downs, and Toowoomba – which is Rabobank’s largest branch in Queensland – covering the east,” he said.

Mr Frizzell said one of the attractions of moving to Rabobank was its sole focus on agriculture and its co-operative structure.

“Having worked for a major

bank for the bulk of my career, it is great to be working for an organisation that is not driven by shareholder returns,” Mr Frizzell said.

“Rabobank’s strong commitment to the rural sector was also a huge drawcard, with their focus being on old-fashioned personal service and developing long-term relationships with their clients.

“The best part of my job is getting on-farm to really understand what my clients do and what their goals are.”

With an area covering from Dulacca in the west, north to Taroom and Mundubbera, across to Jondaryan in the east and down to Cecil Plains and Westmar, Mr Frizzell said the region boasted a mix of dryland and irrigated cropping cotton, as well as beef cattle, sheep and dairy operations.

“Even though the seasons are not being as kind as they could,” Mr Frizzell said, “there is definitely still strong confidence in the rural game, which is evidenced by the solid rural property sales results that have been occurring.”
