Miniseries: Sunshine

The Western Star - - LIFE TV GUIDE -

Wednesday, sbs, 8.30pm

It features a stellar cast and an engrossing crime mystery, but the stand-out feature of this well-made Aussie drama is its South Sudanese cast and characters. Arguably the first drama on Aussie TV to highlight the struggles faced by our African migrant community, Sunshine is a serious story, cocooned by a love of basketball. Starring Anthony Paglia and Vince Colosimo, we follow the life of aspiring South Sudanese-Australian basketball player Jacob (Wally Elnour, pictured), living in the titular Melbourne suburb, who is close to joining the US college basketball league. But his dreams may be shattered when he is caught up in a police investigation.
