FOR those driving between Morven and Charleville there is now something new to catch the eye.

A new billboard has been installed adjacent to the highway to inform visitors about an integral part of the region’s grazing industry.

The Welcome to the Mulga Lands sign has been designed to educate drivers who pass by about mulga and its importance to the region and how the community cares for it.

Murweh Shire Mayor Annie Liston said the billboard is definitely something motorists won’t miss.

“The sign was put up by the South West National Resources Management to tell people about what we do with mulga and the benefits it has for rural properties,” Cr Liston said.

“We wanted tourists to know that we don’t just push over trees, and to let them know exactly what was happening.”

Cr Liston said South West NRM chair Mark O’Brien had approached her with the concept.
