SQNRM to in­tro­duce new board

MEM­BERS of South­ern Queens­land Nat­u­ral Re­source Man­age­ment (NRM) and the gen­eral pub­lic are in­vited to at­tend the first gen­eral meet­ing of the new NRM or­gan­i­sa­tion in Roma on Wed­nes­day, Oc­to­ber 31.

Chair of South­ern Queens­land NRM Mark O’Brien said it would be a great op­por­tu­nity for mem­bers to meet the or­gan­i­sa­tion’s new di­rec­tors.

“It’s an ex­cit­ing time for our re­gion, and a great op­por­tu­nity to tackle the chal­lenges we face in the NRM sec­tor head-on - with a new Board of Di­rec­tors and a united re­gional ap­proach,” he said.

The board of di­rec­tors will have a fo­cus on be­ing skills-based, with two cur­rent di­rec­tors con­tin­u­ing.

An in­de­pen­dent chair will also be ap­pointed to the board.

Com­pany di­rec­tors will be re­spon­si­ble to the mem­ber­ship for over­all gov­er­nance, in­clud­ing over­sight of the strate­gic de­liv­ery of com­mu­nity-based nat­u­ral re­source man­age­ment across the South­ern Queens­land NRM re­gion.

“We in­vite any­one with an in­ter­est in our re­gion’s nat­u­ral re­sources to come along to meet the board, and our new CEO Paul McDon­ald,” said Mr O’Brien.

“South­ern Queens­land NRM is fo­cused on com­mu­nity-led nat­u­ral re­source man­age­ment, so come along and share your thoughts on our re­gion’s NRM fu­ture.”

Four new di­rec­tors will be for­mally ap­pointed at end-of-month meet­ing, which will be held in the Ernest Brock Room at the Mara­noa Re­gional Coun­cil Cham­bers.
