Our guide will lead you to the favourite haunts of his ex­ten­sive Out­back home ground. Ex­pe­ri­ence a unique way to see South Aus­tralia through the eyes of an expert nat­u­ral­ist who un­der­stands the land­scape and never tires of its beauty. Home to Malleefowl, el­e­gantly plumed Re­gent Par­rots and sea eagles, the re­gion ex­tends from the coast to a fa­mous in­land river sys­tem and desert. Stay at a pri­vate na­ture re­serve not far from a fa­mous win­ery set in a wet­land sanc­tu­ary. At spec­tac­u­lar river­bank cliffs you’ll dine un­der the stars and spot­light South­ern Hairy-nosed Wom­bats.

Itin­er­ary:

Day 1

Ar­rive Ade­laide and spend the night in the city.

Day 2 You’ll be picked up by our na­ture guide and driven to Innes Na­tional Park on the Yorke Penin­sula for spec­tac­u­lar coastal scenery and see Malleefowl, Western (Mallee) Whip­bird, White-bel­lied Sea-eagle and seals. Overnight will be spent in ac­com­mo­da­tion on the edge of the na­tional park.

Day 3 After a morn­ing in the na­tional park we re­lo­cate to Birdlife Aus­tralia’s flag­ship Glue­pot Na­ture Re­serve. Mur­ray River wet­lands and vis­it­ing a spec­tac­u­lar Re­gent Par­rot colony. Overnight is in a lux­ury room at a newly ren­o­vated ho­tel on the banks of the Mur­ray where we’ll spend a cou­ple of nights.

Day 4 Today your guide will take you through the se­cluded Glue­pot Na­ture Re­serve to see nu­mer­ous rare and threat­ened birds and meet three types of kan­ga­roo, in­clud­ing the iconic Red Kan­ga­roo.

Day 5 After a morn­ing eco-cruise on the Mur­ray River wet­lands, we’ll head to the board­walk and lunch at a fa­mous win­ery set in­side a wet­land sanc­tu­ary be­fore an af­ter­noon drive to stay at an 80 acre pri­vate bush re­treat in the Ade­laide Hills. En­joy a sun­set din­ner over­look­ing the spec­tac­u­lar crim­son cliffs on the banks of the Mur­ray River fol­lowed by spot­light­ing for South­ern Hairy-nosed Wom­bats.

Day 6 This last day will be spent in the Ade­laide Hills ex­plor­ing the re­treat’s prop­erty and sur­rounds view­ing na­tive birds, Koalas and other iconic wildlife be­fore re­turn­ing to Ade­laide in the evening.

Day 7 De­part from Ade­laide.
