Your jour­ney starts in Mel­bourne, the gate­way to Aus­tralia’s nat­u­ral world, home to koalas, lyre­birds, and mar­su­pial glid­ers. You’ll dine on the river Mur­ray, meet Hairy-nosed Wom­bats and wet­land birds. You’ll swim with dol­phins, ex­pe­ri­ence art, cul­ture and con­ser­va­tion on Kan­ga­roo Is­land. On the Eyre Penin­sula you’ll ex­pe­ri­ence a wild ocean ad­ven­ture with seals, sharks and par­take in a seafood del­i­ca­cies. In the west, meet a tal­ented War­dandi man who un­der­stands wildlife through mu­sic and dance, see giant Karri trees, en­demic wildlife and flow­ers in one of the world’s rich­est en­vi­ron­ments.

This 21 day tour com­bines the best of our trips across south­ern Aus­tralia from Mel­bourne to Perth. It com­prises el­e­ments from : Mel­bourne: Bay to Hin­ter­land (p40), Coast to Rain­for­est (p38); Wom­bats, Winer­ies and the Mighty Mur­ray (p54), Kan­ga­roo Is­land Dis­cov­ery (p56) and South West Edge Wildlife Sa­fari (p66), plus an Abo­rig­i­nal cul­tural tour and dolphin swims.

Day 1-5 Dis­cover Mel­bourne, the gate­way to Aus­tralia’s nat­u­ral world. In the com­pany of ex­pert guides, you’ll see many of the con­ti­nent's iconic an­i­mals.

Day 6-7 Take a guided trip to the Mur­ray River re­gion and Barossa Val­ley, where you’ll go birdwatching, dine on the banks of the Mur­ray and spot­light South­ern Hairy-nosed Wom­bats.

Day 8-11 A trip around Kan­ga­roo Is­land, where wildlife comes to you, as you meet fa­mous con­ser­va­tion­ists, swim with wild dol­phins and learn about lo­cal food and art against a back­drop of stun­ning in­land scenery and ocean views.

Day 12-15 En­joy guided tour of the Eyre Penin­sula’s fa­mous seafood, se­cluded land­scapes and abun­dant wildlife. An area the size of Tas­ma­nia, this ex­tra­or­di­nary place is renowned for its ocean wildlife en­coun­ters, in­clud­ing swim­ming with in­quis­i­tive Aus­tralian Sealions and leg­endary Great White Shark cage div­ing (op­tional).

Day 15-19 Take a flight to Perth to pick up a car and head to the Mar­garet River re­gion for a cul­tural tour with a lo­cal War­dandi guide. Then head for the Karri forests of Walpole for river cruises and wildlife watch­ing in this fas­ci­nat­ing his­tor­i­cal site be­fore a trip to the in­land dunes and forests of Pem­ber­ton.

Day 20-21 A day in Perth, fol­lowed by de­par­ture.
