Your journey starts in Melbourne, the gateway to Australia’s natural world, home to koalas, lyrebirds, and marsupial gliders. You’ll dine on the river Murray, meet Hairy-nosed Wombats and wetland birds. You’ll swim with dolphins, experience art, culture and conservation on Kangaroo Island. On the Eyre Peninsula you’ll experience a wild ocean adventure with seals, sharks and partake in a seafood delicacies. In the west, meet a talented Wardandi man who understands wildlife through music and dance, see giant Karri trees, endemic wildlife and flowers in one of the world’s richest environments.

This 21 day tour combines the best of our trips across southern Australia from Melbourne to Perth. It comprises elements from : Melbourne: Bay to Hinterland (p40), Coast to Rainforest (p38); Wombats, Wineries and the Mighty Murray (p54), Kangaroo Island Discovery (p56) and South West Edge Wildlife Safari (p66), plus an Aboriginal cultural tour and dolphin swims.
Day 1-5 Discover Melbourne, the gateway to Australia’s natural world. In the company of expert guides, you’ll see many of the continent's iconic animals.
Day 6-7 Take a guided trip to the Murray River region and Barossa Valley, where you’ll go birdwatching, dine on the banks of the Murray and spotlight Southern Hairy-nosed Wombats.
Day 8-11 A trip around Kangaroo Island, where wildlife comes to you, as you meet famous conservationists, swim with wild dolphins and learn about local food and art against a backdrop of stunning inland scenery and ocean views.
Day 12-15 Enjoy guided tour of the Eyre Peninsula’s famous seafood, secluded landscapes and abundant wildlife. An area the size of Tasmania, this extraordinary place is renowned for its ocean wildlife encounters, including swimming with inquisitive Australian Sealions and legendary Great White Shark cage diving (optional).
Day 15-19 Take a flight to Perth to pick up a car and head to the Margaret River region for a cultural tour with a local Wardandi guide. Then head for the Karri forests of Walpole for river cruises and wildlife watching in this fascinating historical site before a trip to the inland dunes and forests of Pemberton.
Day 20-21 A day in Perth, followed by departure.
