More than one mil­lion cars are sold in Aus­tralia each year and emma data shows that news­pa­pers are the most trusted me­dia source of ad­vice when pur­chas­ing a car.

Some 2.2 mil­lion read­ers look at the mo­tor­ing sec­tion in news­pa­pers each week for in-depth reviews of new mod­els and de­tailed in­for­ma­tion on re­lated prod­ucts and ser­vices, from fuel to fi­nance.

Mo­tor­ing sec­tion read­ers are a lu­cra­tive au­di­ence who trust news­pa­pers to pro­vide them with the qual­ity guid­ance they need to make sure their next car is the per­fect pur­chase.

Some 345,000 read­ers of mo­tor­ing sec­tions are ac­tively think­ing about buy­ing a car in the next 12 months.

The read­ers of mo­tor­ing sec­tions are 42 per cent more likely to buy a new car than the gen­eral pub­lic. The av­er­age mo­tor sec­tion reader in­tends to spend $33,000 on their next set of wheels, ac­cord­ing to emma.
