UNITY: The Equality Campaign Concert
A whopper line-up of new and old music lords unite to raise funds for marriage equality
IN THIS, THE season of music festival lineup reveals, we are presented with a pretty golden one. For one night only you can watch a wildly popular indie band, two Oz rock from the Recovery-era reunion line-ups and a bevy of local genre-spanning gems. The best part? They’re all taking to the stage to promote and raise funds for the fight for marriage equality.
UNITY is a concert that not only advocates for the rights of same-sex partnerships but is also a fundraiser, with 100 per cent of the ticket profits going to Australian Marriage Equality (AME). The generationally diverse musicians will all be per forming for free and the raised dosh goes directly to aiding AME’s ongoing Equality Campaign.
And, phwoar, what a line-up. See mini sets from the Jezabels, Killing Heidi and Frenzal Rhomb as well as an intimate song bundle from Sarah Blasko, Holly Throsby, Jack Colwell, Andy Bull, Mojo Juju and Lonelyspeck. Aside from being a great show with an enviable festivalsavvy program, the UNITY event is a chance to show your support for the LGBTQIA community and their rights in the face of the government’s most recent jabs at a plebiscite. ■ Enmore Theatre, 118-132 Enmore Rd, Newtown 2042. 02 9550 3666. www.enmoretheatre.com.au. 8pm. $70.
