Director Ryan Coogler starring Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Michael B. Jordan, Andy Serkis, Martin Freeman eta 16 February 2018

Some of the biggest cheers of Comic-Con 2017 were reserved for Black Panther, one of the MCU’s newest recruits. TF caught a glimpse of one sequence in which T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) scope out a casino where a dodgy deal is going down between Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and Ulysses Klaue (Andy Serkis). Before Bilbo and Gollum have been able to make their trade, a firefight breaks out and T’Challa bolts.

A new Comic-Con-exclusive trailer revealed some cool new details, like the fact T’Challa’s Black Panther suit materialises around him like an even more advanced version of Tony Stark’s tech, and Michael B. Jordan’s villainous Erik Killmonger has his own gold-tinged Panther suit.

As star Chadwick Boseman explains, T’Challa/Black Panther is still adjusting to the tragedy we witnessed in Civil War. “He’s still mourning his father’s death,” he says. “It’s a transition period that gets interrupted, and he’s struggling with the type of king he wants to be.” The fictional nation of Wakanda might be more advanced than MCU locations we’ve seen on screen before, but in director Ryan Coogler’s (Fruitvale Station, Creed) hands, expect an extremely relatable story.
