When I was nine or 10, a friend’s dad, again best intentions, took me and my friend to see Ralph Bakshi’s Lord Of The Rings. It was sold out, but they were also showing the Philip Kaufman iNvasioN of the Body sNatchers, the one with Donald Sutherland. God damn it, that movie fucked me up so hard. I had nightmares because at the end the bad guys win and there’s no fucking hope and no one to turn to. I saw it five years ago: still terrifying.
