From Gotham guys Bruno Heller and Danny Cannon comes another, considerably more hard-edged prequel series set in the Batman universe. Jack Bannon, channelling ’60s Michael Caine, exudes capability and charisma as ex-SAS soldier Alfred Pennyworth, who is setting up a London-based security firm when he stumbles upon the anarchic Raven Society - and takes them on with the help of US agents Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge) and Martha Kane (Emma Paetz). The action is strong, the language is stronger (no kids, please!), and handsome production design, costumes and lensing means it looks fabulous too. Jamie Graham
