The first studio album from Kiss to feature lead guitarist Tommy Thayer in his controversial guise as Ace 2.0, he skilfully apes the Spaceman’s style throughout, as he has managed to continue to do ever since. The former Black N’ Blue man, who’d actually joined Kiss in 2003, sprinkles Say Yeah with an exaggerated vibrato and pinched harmonics and even steps up to the vocal mic for the AC/ DC-ish When Lightning Strikes; he’s given a freer rein for the solo too. Modern Day Delilah sees Stanley back on the mic complementing a riff that comes straight from the band’s halcyon days, while the thumping track Russian Roulette evokes I Love It Loud from 1982’s offering Creatures Of The Night. Not in any way a bad thing. Standout track: Say Yeah
