Black Sabbath

The Ten Year War

Total Guitar - - MONITOR -

Yes it’s £195, but if you’re building a vinyl collection and you want to do it right, this is a special slice of Sabbathy goodness to invest in. The first eight albums with Ozzy, remastered by Andy Pearce and pressed on 180-gram, splattercoloured vinyl with box art by Obey’s Shepard Fairey. There are reissues of the Japanese EvilWoman and Chilean Paranoid 7-inches, repros of a ’78 tour poster and tour programme. And then the USB stick to end all USB sticks: a crucifix-shaped beauty containing the eight albums in Master Quality Audio Flacs. We haven’t even mentioned the actual music yet! Every fan of heavy music must own the first six here – MasterOfReality should appear in dictionaries under the definition of the word ‘riff’. A lovingly-packaged set, then, and all that’s missing in the tale of essential Sabbath are the Dio chapters – perhaps that’s still to come. Rob Laing
