Back at NAMM, all the buzz was about Fen­der’s Amer­i­can Pro­fes­sional and Ex­otic Wood lines, but lurk­ing about in a shad­owy cor­ner back­stage, we spot­ted these sul­try beau­ties: the Spe­cial Edi­tion Tele­caster Noir and Spe­cial Edi­tion Stra­to­caster Noir, which have fi­nally cropped up on store shelves. Both mod­els are made in Mex­ico and get their name from the Satin Black fin­ishes that adorn their alder bod­ies – not to men­tion the über-cool match­ing head­stock. Pair that with the three-ply black/red/black scratch­plates and you have two stealthy solid­bod­ies.
