TESSERACT

Sonder

Total Guitar - - ALBUMS -

With Polaris having rocketed Tesseract to a new plane in the saturated tech metal sphere with its near-perfect amalgam of juddering guitars, transcendental soundscapes and effortlessly-catchy vocal melodies, fourth effort Sonder comes with hope attached. Rather than mess with a winning formula the band have tweaked each element to make it again greater than the sum of its parts. The heavy guitar riffs contain more grit around the edges, while the clean tones seem to shimmer, with funky basslines permeating the dexterous vocals hooks of Juno and King. Though perhaps lacking the immediacy of its predecessor the likes of the mesmeric Orbital nevertheless present otherworldly new realms to explore. Adam Rees
