1952 AJS 350

Townsville Bulletin - Townsville Eye - - FEATURE -

I’ve had this bike since the early ’80s, I’ve had bikes since I was 15 – they were the ruination of my school life. I grew up in Townsville. I was a West End boy. Hedley Cook and I were in the same grade at high school. I raced motorbikes, speedway, and had a little flirtation with drag racing a 750 Norton, I’ve had a go at most things, it’s all good fun. We have yearly reliability events, but with the age of some of those bikes you’ve got to be lucky to get there I suppose, you never know which bit’s going to fail next. I’ve got fewer bikes than I’ve ever had at the moment, probably about eight or 10. It used to be 16 ... This AJS is my short distance weapon. For longer runs I ride the 1956 BSA 650. I can’t ever see me with a new motorbike.
