ELECTRICIAN 1968 FORD GALAXY ESSENTIAL: RUM

Townsville Bulletin - Townsville Eye - - Feature -

This is my fourth Bash. I did my first one six years ago. It’s very hard to raise the money. It takes us close to two years to do it. Last year we had a framed signed Cowboys jersey we raffled off, we do a few sausage sizzles, and chocolates, and we have really good sponsors. The boys at Clean It and Sherriff Electrical really helped us out, over the four years we’re one of the smaller ones but we’ve probably raised $80,000. When they present to kids or a family, they do that on the first night, you’ll have a room full of three to 400 blokes crying. We used to do a few different themes but we’ve settled on Dr Who and the Lost Galaxy. I did the first one with my wife. It was magic. We went with another couple. Everyone should have a go. We take a minimum amount of parts – there’s a list of spares that are suggested you take, but the mechanics are great bush mechanics. Some of the boys have changed motors overnight. It’s just incredible what they can do.”
