weekend readers! As a fan of the HBO comedy series Silicon Valley and movies like The Social Network, I’m totally fascinated by the people behind some of the world’s most successful tech companies. But it was only recently that I discovered we have one of our own, right here in Townsville.
I caught up with Luke Anear, who’s the founder and CEO of SafetyCulture, a workplace health and safety app that’s been adopted by businesses all over the world — and he started it from his garage in Mount Low. I was absolutely blown away by the story of how he built his company and all the little speed bumps along the way. I hope you will be, too.
Still on the topic of tech, I’m sure I’m not the only one who gets completely overwhelmed when I’m buying any piece of gadgetry. So this week I talked to the experts about how to approach buying headphones. They may seem simple enough but these days there is so much choice and techno-jargon and it’s hard to know whether you’re making the right choice.
Jess Steele’s been facing some big choices herself, with her column about moving into her own place and introducing her new beau to her vivacious group of friends; and our fitness gurus Talia and Bri have taken a close look at alcohol and its effect on our bodies — it’s an eye-opening read!
Until next week, happy reading everyone. I hope you’re making the most of these last few days of our picture perfect “winter” weather by getting out and about and enjoying our own slice of paradise.
