EAT BEFORE EXERCISE

Townsville Bulletin - Townsville Eye - - Well Being -

“Fasted cardio” might be trending for its alleged fat-blasting benefits, but if you really want to rev up your metabolism, science says you should tuck in before working out. A recent study by the University of Bath in the UK found that people who ate porridge two hours before a morning sweat sesh had an increased rate of carb-burning during and after their workout than those who fasted. Apparently, eating before exercise can encourage your body to use the carbs stored in your muscles (which helps stabilise your blood sugar levels) and increase the rate at which you digest and metabolise food. Guess it’s time to put breakfast back on the menu!
