Chrissy cakes ‘OK’
TOWNSVILLEBulletinreaders who purchased a Lions Christmas Cake as part of the paper’s Christmas coupon promotions at Stockland Townsville have been assured their cakes are safe.
Bulletinpromotions manager Doug Kingston yesterday said a small metal blade found in one Top Taste Lions cake on the Sunshine Coast was an isolated incident.
‘‘People who purchased the cakes should check the inside packaging. If it is not broken, there is no problem,’’ Mr Kingston said.
The Brisbane-based bakery was forced to destroy millions of cakes after a contamination scare in May.
But Top Taste general manager Graham Martin this week said he was certain the latest contamination had not taken place in the company’s Kedron plant.
Mr Kingston said anyone who was still concerned about their cake could return it to Stockland Townsville’s customer care centre for a full refund.
