Enjoy Xmas break
THIS weekend, all venues will trade as usual. But when Monday rolls around, if you feel like hitting the town or enjoying a meal out on Christmas Day you may have to wait until midnight.
There are a couple of venues open in the twin cities on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, so here is a rundown on what you can expect to do during the festive break.
>> Alla Capri Stage Door Ristorante Italiano on Magnetic Island is having a Christmas buffet luncheon with champagne on arrival and entertainment by Phil Stevens and Bernadette Smith. Bookings on 4778 5448.
>> Townsville RSL is one of the few venues open for Christmas Day lunch however tables have already sold out. The venue will also be open on Boxing Day and will continue normal trade thereafter.
>> Tom’s Tavern is another venue that will be open on Christmas Day but table bookings have also sold out. The venue will however be open again on Boxing Day, trading from 1am to midnight.
>> The Bank Nightclub will be open until 3am on Christmas Eve before closing its doors for Christmas Day. The venue will reopen at 8pm on Boxing Day.
>> The Cowboys Leagues Club will remain open on Christmas Eve until 12.30am and then close for Christmas. The club will reopen at 9am on Boxing Day.
>> Flynn’s Irish Bar will be closed for Christmas Day and Boxing Day and will return to usual trade on December 27.
>> The Mad Cow Tavern will trade until midnight on December 24, before resuming trade as usual at midnight on Christmas night.
>> The Seaview Hotel will be operate until midnight on Christmas Eve, remain closed for Christmas Day and will reopen on Boxing Day at noon. The venue will then continue normal trade.
>> Molly Malone’s and the Fuse Bar will be closed for Christmas and Boxing Day before reopening to the public on Wednesday, December 27.
>> The Hermit Park Hotel will be closed on Christmas Day but the public bar will reopen on Boxing Day with the venue returning to full trade on December 27.
>> The newest bar and grill on Flinders St, Monsoon’s, will be closed on Christmas Day and will resume trade on Boxing Day.
>> Ross Island Hotel is closed on Christmas Day but will reopen on Boxing Day from 11am.
>> Casey’s Deli will close for two days on Christmas Day and Boxing Day and will come back to life on Wednesday.
>> Staff at the Great Northern Hotel will enjoy a three-day break over the festive season, closing from December 24-26. The pub will reopen on December 27 trading as usual.
>> The Metropole will close for only one day over the Christmas season, on Christmas Day, reopening at midday on Boxing Day.
>> Christmas Eve and Boxing Day will be open at the Plaza but the venue will be closed on Christmas Day.
>> The Exchange is open until midnight on Christmas Eve and will reopen on Boxing Day at 8am.
>> The Sun Hotel will only be closed on Christmas Day before returning to usual trade from 8am on Boxing Day.
>> Jupiters Casino will be open throughout the festive season with extended trading hours on weekends but will be closed Christmas Day from 3am before reopening at midnight. Jupiters will continue the extended weekend trading to the New Year.
>> Bully’s Nightclub will be trading all through the festive season. The popular night spot will remain open until 3am on Christmas Eve and will reopen at midnight on Christmas night. The venue will then continue trade as usual from Boxing Day.
>> The Brewery will close its doors for Christmas Day and Boxing Day and will resume normal trade on Wednesday, December 27.
