Ashes urn arrives
THE historic Ashes urn is in Melbourne for the first time.
The tiny burgundy flask which is believed to have once been a perfume dispenser is the highlight ofThe Ashes Exhibition which will be on display at the Melbourne Museum until January 7.
Marylebone Cricket Club curator Adam Chadwick donned foam white gloves before unveiling the urn, which lay on a small pillow covered in tissue paper. He says the 120g sporting icon is fragile, having once shattered after being dropped and has been restored with a reinforcing bolt.
