Dance to beat the festive bulge
THE best cure for seasonal over-indulgence is a work-out on the dance floor, according to one dietician.
Dr Clare Collins, from the University of Newcastle, has recommended dancing as an ideal postChristmas feast activity to bring blood sugars back to a ‘respectable’ level.
A 30-minute jig is needed to work off one glass of wine, Dr Collins said. ‘‘For each can of soft drink you’ll need to dance for 39 minutes and a schooner of beer will have you dancing 42 minutes,’’ she said.
‘‘The good news is that if you pick up the tempo, you’ll only need to dance for half as long.’’
WORK IT OFF . . . good for blood sugar but what about the headache?
