MP has new fan
HERBERT MPPeter Lindsay has a friend in the defence force. No, not the Minister, Brendan ‘Stud’ Nelson, but Private Simon Noble. It transpires that Mr Lindsay sat next to Pte Noble at an Australian Defence Force Academy dinner in October. The young private mentioned that he had not been long been married and that his wife, who was in the RAAF, had been posted. Pte Noble had applied for a transfer so he could be with his wife, but it had been knocked back. Mr Lindsay volunteered to see what could be done. One month later Pte Noble had his transfer. So happy was he that he wrote to Mr Lindsay telling him he was naming his first-born Peter, regardless if it was a boy or a girl. He also volunteered that if he was ever transferred to Townsville he would work as a volunteer in the electorate of Herbert. Now that’s gratitude. Herbert MP, by the way, is chuffed.
