Swim for McHouse
HUMANmackerelGemma Jensen will attempt a cage-free 46km open water swim from The Strand, around Magnetic Island, and back to The Strand in May. She wants to use the swim to raise money for Ronald McDonald House, which provides accommodation for families who have seriously ill children receiving treatment at the Townsville Hospital. Ronald McDonald House chairman George Colbran said any money raised by Gemma would be used to fund stage two of the McHouse. George said stage one included 12 rooms and was full every night of the week, so obviously there were people being turned away. George is hoping businesses and people from all around North Queensland who might one day need to use this great facility will pledge money towards Gemma’s swim. In 2005 Gemma became the first North Queenslander to swim the English Channel. If you want to help George get McHouse stage two built, donations may be debited directly to Suncorp account name: Gemma J Swimming, BSB 484-799, no. 160324213.
