Patriotism should be promoted

Townsville Bulletin - - Letters -

IT’S always a thrill to see our soldiers returning home from overseas duty with the Aussie flag shoulder patch on their uniforms.

Why can’t we have this patch on the uniforms of our police officers?

Also, the flag should fly on all government buildings such as post offices, schools, universities and hospitals.

There is nothing to stop us from flying the flag from our front fence or at least on the wall of our living rooms.

How nice would it be to see it on the top right-hand corner of the front page of every newspaper and magazine. If ever there is a time for us to display unity in our nation, it’s now. This is the scene in the US, and I truly believe that we can show our patriotism the same as them. KENKNUTH,

Kelso.
