Missing girl found safe
A 16-YEAR-OLD school girl who went missing on Friday was found late last night.
Child Protection and Investigation Unit officer-in-charge Detective Senior Sergeant Cheryl Scanlon said a 19-yearold male had attempted to return the girl to her parents home shortly before 10pm yesterday.
‘‘A 19-year-old male has presented with the child and further investigations will continue with police,’’ Sen-Sgt Scanlon said.
‘‘He has tried to return her to the family and police have arrived at the house at the same time.’’
She said interviews would be conducted overnight to ascer- tain the circumstances behind the girl’s disappearance.
The girl’s Kirwan family had a heartbreaking Christmas, waiting for news of their teenage daughter who had been missing for four days.
Police held grave fears for Patricia who had never spent a night away from home.
Police initially believed Patricia may have been travelling south to visit family in Bendigo, after she was seen walking south on Bowen Rd in Annandale about 2pm on Friday.
However a teacher from her school confirmed she had spoken to her at Stockland about 1.15pm on Saturday.
